Nesting Dolls, San Francisco's punk-lyric contemporary dance company, is a "stirring fusion of aggressive attack and strong technical lyricism" (San Francisco Bay Guardian). Newly relocated to Los Angeles after nearly a decade in San Francisco, Nesting Dolls' exhilarating dances layer dynamic motion and intellectual meaning with a refreshing dose of irony.

Under the artistic direction of choreographer Cid Pearlman, the company specializes in interdisciplinary collaborations with California artists including composers Jonathan Segel, Erling Wold and Haroon Tahir, filmmaker Ann Kaneko, poet Michelle Murphy, vocalist Laurie Amat, Theater/Film designer Ron Davis, fashion designer Hank Ford and comicbook artist Jon Macy. Pearlman and Nesting Dolls were artists-in-residence at ODC Theater from 1997-1999. The company has created dances for Theater Artaud's Summertime Dance Project, Bay Area Dance Series, American Composers Forum's Composer/Choreographer Residency Program and the Edge Festival. Pearlmanís work has been seen in California, Oregon, Massachusetts, New York and West Berlin.

"The joy of Nesting Dolls lies iking dances in a world dominated by trends without falling p ey to their commercial lures."
